# New directions in dark matter direct detection

## by Felix Kahlhoefer

Description Thanks to an impressive increase in sensitivity over recent years, direct detection experiments are among the most sensitive probes of the interactions of dark matter particles with masses in the GeV to TeV region. The next frontier for this technology will be to lower detector thresholds in order to gain sensitivity to dark matter particles in the sub-GeV region. In my talk I will present a range of applications for such a new generation of direct detection experiments. In particular I will discuss searches for light mediators, model-independent tests of the DAMA signal and searches for electrons from nuclear recoils.
